EuroYawn
Last year at around this time I remember I actually summoned up a small amount of interest in the Eurovision Song Contest, and it gave me something to write about. That was when Chiquilicuatre played a ridiculous part wearing a ridiculous costume, singing (??) a ridiculous song in the … well adjectives fail me really when it comes to describing the Contest. But there was the possibility that being so in keeping with the whole set-up, he might even win. He did better than other Spanish contestants over the past few years, but not well.
I hadn’t even noticed that Eurovision was happening last Saturday until I looked to see what was on television and found that my choice lay between a double dose of Ian Hislop and the Eurovision farce. No contest, really. A good laugh at the week’s UK news followed by a reflection on the role of Poets Laureate through the ages, and I just had time to tune in to the end of the voting, which is always the best bit anyway. It was so dull I can’t remember who voted last or how it was going… I think I may have gone to the kitchen for a glass of something to get me through it. I only bothered with the last bit, because I do like Graham Norton, but he sounded as if he’d had enough of it long before I got there.
And this year’s Spanish entry? Soraya. That’s all I know really. She didn’t win either.

Hi Liz.
Greetings from Sydney, Australia.
Do you recall helping me interview Maria Amerlia, The World’s Oldest Blogger, a couple of years ago?
Sadly, she died on May 20, aged 97.

That prompted me to write a story about the latest World’s Oldest Blogger.

Cheers, Eric.
Hi there
“el Chiquilicuatre” had more fans than Soraya by a mile definetly. What makes me reflect if We Spaniards punished Eurovision when We had the chance or aour artistic taste could be seriously improved.
Regards.
